Requirements
- Resident or have employment in Davidson County (this will be verified)
- At least 21 years of age
- No arrest record (minor traffic violations are excluded) (this will be verified) this includes misdemeanor citations, if you have one, please don't apply unless your record had been expunged no matter how long ago it occurred.
- Able to attend a minimum of 10 of the 12 sessions to receive a certificate of completion
Upcoming Sessions
The fall session of the Police Department’s Community Police Academy begins on Tuesday, September 3, at the West Precinct. Classes will be held on Tuesday nights through November 19.
Each applicant should commit to attending at least 10 of the 12 sessions, be a Davidson County resident/business owner, at least 21 years old, and have no arrest record.
Class Information
Classes begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. (Tuesday nights) and conclude at 9:00 p.m.
Participants in the academy will learn about the intricacies of police work through the prospective of a variety of guest speakers, including members of the police department's various specialized components.
This course involves traveling to satellite locations within Davidson County on select course nights. You must provide your own transportation to these locations.
Important: While completion of this course gives citizens an understanding of the workings of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, it does not make a participant a certified law enforcement officer, nor is it designed to train citizens to perform law enforcement duties.
