Violent Crimes Division detectives are working to locate a dark colored Nissan Maxima (seen in attached photos) believed to be involved in at least two recent robberies where a man forcefully stole women’s purses.
The first robbery occurred on January 7 as a woman was walking on Elkins Avenue at 50th Avenue North when a gray Maxima pulled up next to her and a man got out armed with a handgun. He demanded her purse before taking it, knocking her to the ground. The victim’s purse contained her iPhone 12, debit card and social security card.
The second victim reported on January 8 she was inside her apartment complex’s communal laundry room on Woodmont Boulevard when she let a man inside from the parking lot, believing he was another resident. The man immediately put a gun to her head and demanded cash. He then took the victim’s wallet and her keys. He fled in a gray Maxima.
The third occurred on January 9 at the Aldi grocery store on Nolensville Pike. A man approached a female victim as she was loading groceries into her trunk. The suspect demanded her purse but since she didn’t have one, he ripped her jacket off. Her driver’s license, debit card, iPhone 14 and car keys were in the pockets. Her iPhone 14 was later recovered at Radnor Avenue at Meade Street.
Anyone with information on the gray Maxima or the suspect involved is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
