Four persons, three males and a female, died this morning when the Chevrolet Camaro in which they were riding collided head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner SUV on Bell Road near the intersection of Brittany Park Drive.
The investigation shows the 2015 model Camaro was traveling west on Bell Road at 6:45 a.m. when the as yet unidentified male driver failed to negotiate a curve. The Camaro traveled into an on-coming traffic lane and collided with the 2012 model 4-Runner. The four occupants of the Camaro died at the scene. The driver and front seat male passenger were wearing seatbelts. The male and female rear seat passengers were not. The male rear seat passenger has been identified as Alonzo Alfonzo, 20, of Nashville. Efforts continue to positively identify the other three.
The 32-year-old driver of the 4-Runner was transported to Vanderbilt with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Toxicology testing is pending to determine whether impairment on the part of the Camaro driver was a contributing factor to the crash.
