Updated: March 7, 2024 Turner died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center today. Midtown Hills Precinct detectives are in conversation with the District Attorney’s Office about subsequent charging decisions.
A licensed Tin Roof security guard is charged with aggravated assault following a physical altercation February 18th that left Austin Turner, 26, of Hendersonville, in extremely critical condition. Richard Cornelius, 36, of Antioch, denied Turner reentry into the Demonbreun Street bar when an altercation ensued.
Investigation by Midtown Hills Precinct detectives led to the issuance of an arrest warrant accusing Cornelius of striking Turner causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
Turner remains at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Cornelius was released on $25,000 bond.
