Juma Ismail, 21, is again jailed in relation to vehicle break-ins/thefts. He was free on $9,000 bond for a January 21st arrest in which he and two others were charged in connection to a car burglary where shots were fired after the victim confronted them.
Ismail was taken into custody just after midnight Saturday after Vehicle Crimes detectives received a tip for a stolen laptop which led them to a residence in the 1600 block of 25th Avenue North. Detectives saw a Dodge Durango parked in the driveway leave the area. Investigation showed that the laptop was in the pickup. When the Durango returned to the residence, the driver got out and entered the house. Detectives conducted a knock and talk and located the laptop in a bedroom.
During the subsequent execution of a search warrant for the residence and Dodge Durango, detectives recovered a stolen Kentucky license plate, ten grams of methamphetamine, and two stolen rewards cards in the Durango. Additional items were recovered from the residence, including a shotgun. The firearm had been inside a vehicle reported stolen in November 2023 from a Elliot Avenue apartment complex.
During an interview, Ismail admitted that he was driving the Durango. Ismail is charged with two counts of theft of property and drug possession. He remains jailed on $12,000 bond.
The investigation continues.
