The man shot while riding in a Saturn Ion sedan on I-24 near the Sillman Evans Bridge Sunday afternoon has died. The victim is identified as De’ Angelo Black, 20, of Nashville.
The investigation shows that the occupants of the Saturn had some type encounter with individuals in another car while at a gas station/market in North Nashville. The people in the Saturn said the other car followed them onto the interstate where shots were fired just after they entered I-24 west from I-40. Black, a rear seat passenger, was the only one hit. The driver of the car pulled onto the Shelby Avenue exit ramp and got help from an officer who was working a traffic assignment. Black was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The other car suspected of being involved was located during the night unoccupied at a North Nashville apartment complex. The investigation by the Homicide Unit is continuing.
