A Tennessee parolee with multiple convictions for cocaine and robbery offenses has been rearrested, this time accused of trafficking a 17-year-old runaway girl from another county for commercial sex acts.
Torrance Lamont Cosby, 48, was taken into custody late Tuesday at a Brick Church Pike motel and charged with trafficking for commercial sex, gun possession by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen pistol.
Cosby's arrest resulted from an investigation by TBI agents, Department of Children's Services staff, and detectives from the MNPD's Special Victims Unit. The TBI became aware of an Internet sex ad depicting the teen. During the subsequent joint investigation, the girl was safely taken away from the property. Cosby was arrested after being identified as the person who allegedly controlled her activities and received the money. The stolen pistol was found under the mattress of his room.
Cosby has multiple felony convictions since the 1990s, the latest of which (cocaine-related) resulted in a 15-year prison sentence in 2015. The state has filed a parole violation warrant against him.
