A male pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday at 10 p.m. in the 2700 block of Murfreesboro Pike.
The preliminary investigation shows that the 33-year-old man was walking in a lane of travel when he was struck by the southbound driver of a Jeep Compass. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. Efforts are being made to contact his next of kin.
The driver of the Jeep stopped and waited for police to arrive. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement on the part of the driver. Toxicology testing is pending for the pedestrian.
This fatal crash occurred outside of a crosswalk/intersection.
