Violent Crimes detectives Wednesday night, with assistance from a police helicopter, arrested three persons suspected in a series of more than a dozen South Nashville robberies targeting apartment complexes.
Jorge Alvarado, 26, and Carlos Beltran Jr., 34, are accused of exiting a Kia Sportage in the parking lot of 287 Hickory Trace Drive where they robbed a man, Alvarado armed with a handgun and Beltran armed with what appeared to be a long pipe. They fled in the Kia. Detectives stopped the suspect vehicle a short time later and took them into custody. Both men were positively identified. A handgun and a long floor jack handle were recovered from the Kia.
During an interview, Alvarado admitted his involvement in last night’s hold-up. He and Beltran are both charged with aggravated robbery. Additionally, Alvarado is charged with unlawful gun possession (for being a non-U.S. citizen). He is being held on $152,000 bond. Beltran is also jailed on $152,000 bond.
Detectives early today executed a search warrant at the LaVergne residence of Beltran and Alvarado. They found two firearms, three face masks and additional evidence that appears to link them to additional Nashville crimes. The investigation is continuing.
Due to their suspected involvement in other robberies, their photos are being withheld.
A third occupant of the SUV, Keyla Orellana-Vasquez, 33, was also arrested. She was charged with unlawful weapon possession (for being a non-U.S. citizen) after claiming a handgun recovered from the SUV. She is free on $1,000 bond.
