The gunman who shot three persons Sunday afternoon at an apartment in the Baker Station complex on Bakertown Road before fatally shooting himself has been identified as Emilio Ramirez Lopez, 25.
Lopez wounded his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend, her 7-year-old son, and the ex-girlfriend’s 21-year-old cousin before killing himself. The 31-year-old is in critical condition at Vanderbilt. Her son and the 21-year-old are in stable condition. The 21-year-old’s infant daughter was in the apartment, but was not injured.
The 7-year-old reported that his mother and her cousin had left the apartment to take the trash to a dumpster when Lopez knocked on the door and entered. He said Lopez waited for the women to return, and then the shooting started. Lopez lived with them at the apartment at some point in the past. His death is being investigated as a suspected suicide.
