A teenage driver died late Monday night following a single-car crash on Highway 70 South near the split at Charlotte Pike. The preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Charger was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a utility pole before rolling several times into a field.
The driver, Kristian Correa-Gomez, 16, of White Bluff, died at the scene. Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine whether impairment was a factor in this fatal crash.
