A tip to Nashville Crime Stoppers led to this morning's apprehension of Randy Brooks II, 43, who is now charged with criminal homicide for the January 12 murder of Uriel Miller, 26, on I-40 east just past the Fesslers Lane exit.
The tip was prompted by Tuesday's release of dashcam video from a tractor-trailer that showed a Honda Odyssey van following Miller's car and then pull up alongside it. It was then that detectives believe shots were fired from the van into Miller's Crown Victoria sedan. Investigation of the Crime Stoppers tip revealed that Brooks owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey van which was found parked outside his Sadler Avenue residence and is identical to the van depicted in the dashcam video. It appears that Brooks believed a car like the one Miller drove had been following him. It is presently believed that Brooks mistook Miller's vehicle for another and opened fire.
Brooks is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
