Two suspects, Deshawn Horn, 18, and a 17-year-old female, are charged with several offenses following Monday’s 6:30 a.m. hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on Commerce Street at Representative John Lewis Way.
After striking the pedestrian, Horn and the female fled on foot from a 2022 Kia Sportage that had been stolen Sunday night from a parking lot at 1 Titans Way. The adult female pedestrian was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Central Precinct officers were able to use the downtown camera system to develop a lead on the suspects’ whereabouts. They were later arrested outside the Walmart at 3458 Dickerson Pike.
Horn is charged with vehicle theft, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, failure to render aid/give notice, driving without a license/insurance, and drug possession. He is being held in lieu of $61,000 bond. The 17-year-old is charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, failure to render aid/give notice, and leaving the scene of an accident.
The investigation is ongoing into the teens potential involvement in additional thefts.
