Specialized Investigations Division detectives last night arrested one of the MNPD’s Most Wanted suspects, James Briggs, 27, on South Street for the July 25 burglary of a Sylvan Street home. Briggs, of Hendersonville, is alleged to have entered the victims’ apartment at 1:30 a.m. after removing the air conditioning unit in the bedroom window and began shooting at one of the victims in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
The victim was not struck by the gunfire and told the suspect his family, including four grandchildren, were in the other room. The victim stated Briggs yelled out the window to a second suspect “wrong house, wrong house” and fled.
Elijah Kodjo, 33, was identified as the second suspect accompanying Briggs. Kodjo is currently wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
Briggs was charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, felony weapon possession, and six counts of reckless endangerment. He is currently jailed on $195,000 bond.
