Heather Watson
Crime Lab Business ManagerHeather received a Bachelor of Science in Government and Public Administration from Lipscomb University in 2000.
In 2002, Heather began her career with the Tennessee Department of Health’s HIV/STD Program as the HIV Prevention Administrator. She was responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a statewide evaluation program. In 2006, Heather served as the HIV Prevention Community Services Director. As Director, she was responsible for the oversight of public health policy and federal funds. During this time, Heather received a Graduate Certificate in Health Administration and Planning and a Master’s in Public Administration from Tennessee State University 2006.
In October 2007, Heather took a position as a Strategic Planning and Budget Analyst for Metro’s Finance Department serving as liaison to 19 departments.
In March 2011, Heather took a position with the Metro Nashville Police Department as the Crime Lab Business Manager. Heather assisted in the planning and establishment of the new full-service Crime Laboratory, including: budget development and management; creation of Lab job classifications; facilitating hiring process; acquisition of lab instrumentation, equipment, services, and consumables; negotiating and maintaining contracts; and establishing fiscal and HR processes within the Lab. During this time, Heather received her certification as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional.
In 2020, Heather’s HR and fiscal responsibilities were expanded to include all programs under the Forensic Services Division.
