Lieutenant Michael Gilliland joined the Metro-Nashville Police Department in 1993. He currently supervises the Traffic Section which is comprised of the Fatal Crash Team, Hit & Run Unit, DUI Unit and the School Crossing Guard Section.

Prior to his current assignment, Mike was the evening shift Lieutenant in the East Precinct. Most of his career has focused on Uniformed Patrol and Special Operations. Mike has worked and supervised units in the Patrol Division, Intelligence, S.W.A.T. and Special Operations. He has served as the Traffic Section Commander for the past four years.
