Quick action between Homicide and TITANS Unit detectives, in partnership with Central Precinct officers and WeGo security staff, led to last night’s arrest of Shamari Bailey, 15, for Tuesday’s 4 p.m. fatal shooting of Braden Caldwell, 16, on the second story of the downtown WeGo bus station.
Caldwell and Bailey were involved in a physical altercation before two shots were fired, striking Caldwell. The 16-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt Pediatrics where he died. WeGo security staff was familiar with Bailey and helped identify him.
Bailey fled towards 5th Avenue North following the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident just before 7 p.m. by TITANS Unit detectives and Central Precinct officers at his University Court home.
Bailey is charged in Juvenile Court with criminal homicide.
