Update: Cassandra L. Nelson, 52, has been identified as the driver killed in Saturday morning’s crash on Nolensville Pike at Harding Place.
A 20-year-old Nashville man has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication for today’s 2 a.m. three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Harding Place that killed an unidentified motorist.
The preliminary investigation shows that Bryan Lozano was speeding as he traveled northbound on Nolensville Pike in a 2007 Acura sedan. He ran the red light at the Harding Place intersection and hit a Honda automobile at the driver’s door. The Honda immediately caught fire, began to spin, and struck a Jeep Compass.
The unidentified driver of the Honda died at the scene. The police department is working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify that person.
Lozano was not injured, nor were the two occupants of the Jeep.
Lozano smelled of alcohol and was heard by an officer saying, “I am drunk.” In addition to vehicular homicide, Lozano is charged with driving on a suspended license, underage alcohol consumption and not having proof of insurance. He is jailed in lieu of $78,500 bond.
