Update: The man murdered Monday morning on Maplecrest Drive has been positively identified as Xavier J. Johnson, 20, of Clarksville. Homicide detectives are pursuing leads in this case.
Homicide detectives believe the man who was murdered this morning outside a home at 2207 Maplecrest Drive was set up and lured to the location, part of which is a short-term rental that was not in use.
The investigation shows that the victim, who has not yet been positively identified, arrived at the location just before 1 a.m. with a woman, who led him toward the rear of the property. A gunman, who was waiting nearby, ran up on the victim and shot him multiple times. The victim died at the scene. The gunman and the woman fled the scene together.
At this point in the investigation, there is no known connection between the parties and the Maplecrest Drive property.
