Autopsy examinations conducted today on two persons found dead in a crashed car Friday morning off a construction road at 497 Old Hickory Boulevard in West Nashville show that both persons were fatally shot in a case that is now being classified as a double homicide.
The victims are identified as Holly A. Williams, 33, and her estranged boyfriend, William L. Lanway, 36, who was arrested March 4 on charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment for attacking Williams in a domestic violence incident. Williams had obtained an order of protection against Lanway, who was also arrested for domestic assault last December for punching her.
Williams and Lanway were found by a construction worker late Friday morning inside Williams’ crashed 2005 white Acura sedan. The car had gone off the construction road, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree. Both airbags deployed. A search warrant has been executed at Williams’ Hillmeade Drive apartment as detectives work to identify who killed the two victims and determine the motive.
Anyone with information about the murders of Holly Williams and William Lanway, or anyone seeing either victim last Thursday/early Friday is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. West Precinct Detective Patrick Cuthbertson, 615-862-7456, is leading this investigation.
