Last night, Violent Crimes detectives quickly apprehended a shooting suspect after a bystander was injured in an exchange of gunfire on Clarksville Pike. Jakari Waters, 18, was involved in a verbal altercation with a man near the Little Barn Market prior to both men drawing weapons and firing upon one another.
As a result, a 30-year-old woman was struck in the leg while working in her food truck parked nearby. She was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Specialized Investigations detectives were familiar with Waters from previous shooting incidents. Waters was seen on surveillance footage leaving the scene in a Nissan Murano, which was stolen March 28th from a 21st Avenue North apartment complex parking garage.
The stolen Nissan and Waters were located by detectives at his home on Lindsey Meadows Court a short time after the shooting. The firearm used was not.
Waters was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and vehicle theft. Additional charges are anticipated. He is currently jailed in lieu of $50,000 bond.
