Chief John Drake today announced the appointment of a new inspector along with the promotion of a new captain and two new lieutenants, all effective June 1, to fill existing vacancies.
Captain Rita Brockmann Baker, a 34-year Nashville Police veteran, is being appointed to the rank of Inspector and will oversee the Interpersonal Crimes Branch of the Investigative Services Bureau. The Interpersonal Crimes Branch includes the Domestic Violence Division, Family Intervention Division, Youth Services Division, and the Special Victims Division, each of which is headed by a captain. Brockmann Baker formerly headed the police department’s Facilities Management Division. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Salem College.
Being promoted to captain and succeeding Brockmann Baker in the Facilities Management Division is Lieutenant William Watkins, a 24-year Nashville Police veteran who currently oversees the department’s Safety component. Watkins holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Edinboro University.
Being promoted to lieutenant and succeeding Watkins in the Safety component is Sergeant Matthew Chapman, a 12-year Nashville Police veteran who is currently assigned to Sex Crimes. Chapman holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Lipscomb University.
Also being promoted to lieutenant is Sergeant Michael Baujan, an 12-year Nashville Police veteran who will lead the South Precinct’s day shift. Baujan is currently a supervisor at the North Precinct. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Austin Peay State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
