Chief John Drake today announced the appointments of two MNPD leaders to deputy chief and commander, as well as the promotions of a lieutenant to captain, a sergeant to lieutenant, and an officer to sergeant.
Commander Tommy Widener, presently the Director of Training, will become the Deputy Chief of the Support Services Bureau effective tomorrow. The Support Services Bureau includes the Traffic Division as well as Aviation, Canine, SWAT, the Mounted Patrol, and the Emergency Contingency component. Widener is a 22-year MNPD veteran and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University and a Master’s Degree from Cumberland University.
Captain Tiffany Gibson, who presently oversees recruiting operations, is being appointed Commander and the department’s Director of Training effective tomorrow. Gibson, an 18-year police department veteran, previously served as a supervisor at the training academy and a supervisor at the precinct level. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University.
Lieutenant Steven Bowers, a 16-year police department veteran, is being promoted to captain effective tomorrow and will lead the police department’s School Safety Division. Bowers is presently assigned to the Office of Alternative Policing Strategies. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University.
Sergeant Nicholas McCluskey, a 15-year police department veteran, is being promoted to lieutenant effective tomorrow and will lead the Madison Precinct’s evening detail. McCluskey is presently a supervisor at Hermitage Precinct Investigations. He holds an Associate’s Degree from Nashville State Community College.
Officer Kevin Coleman, a 21-year police department veteran, is being promoted to sergeant effective tomorrow and will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift. Coleman holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Austin Peay State University.
