Chief John Drake today announced the promotions of 20 MNPD veterans, 1 to the rank of captain, 5 to the rank of lieutenant, and 14 to the rank of sergeant to fill existing vacancies mostly at the precinct level.
“I am very pleased that these 20 individuals, who have a combined 245 years of service to Nashville’s residents, are reaffirming their commitment to the safety of our neighborhoods by taking on new leadership roles in our police department,” Chief Drake said.
The promotion of new captain Harold Burke is effective Saturday when he becomes the Executive Officer in the Community Services Bureau. Burke is a 23-year MNPD veteran who has vast experience in the patrol and traffic areas of the department, and most recently worked at the Midtown Hills Precinct. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Brockport State University.
The 5 lieutenant and 14 sergeant promotions are effective February 1. Those being promoted to lieutenant are:
Anthony Brooks, a 15-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned as a supervisor at the Central Precinct. Brooks will lead the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Union University;
Michael Gooch, a 20-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Employee Wellness component of the Behavioral Health Services Division, where he will remain in his new rank. Gooch holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University;
Gerald Hyder, a 20-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor at the Central Precinct. Hyder will lead the North Precinct’s day shift beginning February 1. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Savannah College of Art & Design;
Samuel Tetterton, a 10-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Professional Standards Division. Tetterton will lead the North Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1;
Bobby Watkins, a 13-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor at the West Precinct. Watkins will lead the North Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University.

Chris Bowden, an 18-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective in the Youth Services Division. He will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1;
Colin Feeney, a 9-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the South Precinct. He will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1;
Jarred Frazier, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the South Precinct. He will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1. Frazier holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville;
Matthew Grindstaff, a 15-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Special Response Team. He will be a supervisor on the North Precinct’s day shift beginning February 1. Grindstaff holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Cumberland University;
Ky Luu, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the East Precinct. He will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. Luu holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University;
Joshua Mauzy, an 11-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division. He will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1. Mauzy holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University;
Gbewa Mustapha, a 12-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Homicide Unit. He will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s evening shift beginning February 1;
Michael Park, a 24-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Strategic Development Division. He will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s day shift beginning February 1. Park holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Memphis;
Zachary Ronan, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division. He will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. Ronan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Lipscomb University;
Jonathan Seidl, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Homicide Unit. He will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. Seidl holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Montana State University;
Harris Smith, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division. He will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. Smith holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University;
Albert Wilson, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the West Precinct. He will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1.
Michael Wolterbeek, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Midtown Hills Precinct. He will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift beginning February 1. Wolterbeek holds an Associate’s Degree from Marion Military Institute;
William Wright, a 9-year MNPD veteran who is currently a detective assigned to the Domestic Violence Division. He will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s day shift effective February 1. Wright holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
