Homicide Unit detectives, in coordination with Specialized Investigations Division detectives, are pursuing strong leads to identify all of the shooters involved in Saturday evening's gunfire on Jefferson Street at 27th Avenue North. Among the 10 people injured, the man fatally wounded has been identified as Vonquae Johnson, 24.
The investigation to this point indicates two groups fired at each other from a parking lot and the street.
While the motive remains unclear at this time, two of those injured are suspected to have been involved in the shooting. Both refused to be interviewed at the hospital.
Five of the injured were transported by the Nashville Fire Department to area hospitals. Five others were brought to hospitals by private vehicles.
Johnson died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
