Specialized Investigations detectives are now searching for Damarquis Morehead, 30, the suspect believed to be responsible for this morning’s shooting on Jefferson Street that left a 32-year-old man injured. Morehead, who has three outstanding warrants from last week involving his 30-year-old ex-girlfriend, broke into her new boyfriend’s home at 8:45 a.m. and fired a single gunshot that struck the man in his hip.
Both the male victim and Morehead’s ex-girlfriend returned fire, but did not appear to have struck Morehead as he fled.
The man was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The woman was not injured.
Morehead now faces additional three charges, two for aggravated assault and one for especially aggravated burglary, as a result of today’s shooting. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
