Update: A Crime Stoppers tip and further investigation by Hermitage Precinct detectives led to the identification of Roddrick Greene, 21, as the suspect in a June stabbing that injured another man. A warrant charging attempted criminal homicide has been issued against him. Greene has been jailed since August 25 following his arrest for assaulting a first responder, public intoxication, and resisting arrest.
Hermitage Precinct detectives are working to identify the man who Thursday at 7:30 p.m. stabbed another man, for no apparent reason, at the gas pumps at Exxon, 2664 Smith Springs Road.
The 29-year-old victim was getting gas when the suspect approached him from behind and stabbed him in the head and neck area. The victim, who was able to fight off the suspect, received serious, non-life threatening lacerations and was transported to a hospital. He said the suspect didn’t say anything to him or take anything from him.
The suspect arrived on foot from the nearby wood line as the victim pulled into the parking lot. He lingered by the front of the business for a few seconds and then walked toward the victim. After the attack, he fled on foot back into the wood line.
The suspect is a black man who wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Anyone who recognizes him from the attached surveillance photo is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
