The 24-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Prism, who was stopped for an unknown reason in a lane of travel on I-40 West near Briley Parkway Wednesday at 10 p.m., died after her vehicle was struck by a second motorist.
The driver of an Acura TSX reported that a vehicle in front of her suddenly swerved to avoid the Prism and she was unable to stop prior to colliding with the back of it.
The driver of the Prism, Taylor Burns, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
The 27-year-old Acura driver was also transported to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene.
