The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup involved in a multi-vehicle fatal crash last July on I-24 West near Old Hickory Boulevard was arrested this week on a grand jury indictment charging him with vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, four counts of reckless aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of reckless endangerment.
The investigation into the July 2, 2024, crash showed three vehicles were stopped in heavy traffic when Tyler Watson, 28, of Murfreesboro, driving his Ram truck, struck the rear of a Toyota Solara. The Solara then crashed into the back of two other vehicles.
The driver of the Solara, Daniel Roberts, 39, also of Murfreesboro, died at the scene.
Watson did not show signs of impairment at the scene, but was found to have been distracted on his phone at the time of the crash.
He was released on $25,000 bond.
