Update: The driver killed in Friday night’s single-car crash on Charlotte Avenue has been identified as Caitlin J. Morgan, 31.
The female driver of a Toyota Corolla was killed in Friday’s 8:20 p.m. single-vehicle crash on Charlotte Avenue at 23rd Avenue North. The preliminary investigation indicates the Corolla, for reasons unknown, left its lane of travel, went over a curb and struck a utility pole.
The speedometer revealed the car struck the pole at approximately 80 miles per hour.
The driver, tentatively identified as a 31-year-old woman, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to positively identify her.
