Update: The driver of the Maxima has been identified through his fingerprints as Damondre Hayes, 20, of Antioch.
The driver of a stolen Nissan Maxima died early today after crashing into a semi-truck on I-40 west near Fesslers Lane. The deceased, a male, is unidentified at present.
The investigation shows that the Maxima was traveling at a high rate of speed in the rain at 1 a.m. It passed the semi-truck on the left before going out of control and crossing over all four lanes of I-40 west. The car then drifted back to the left and drove under the trailer of the semi. It became trapped under the tires. The driver of the Nissan died at the scene. The semi driver was uninjured.
Two guns, an AR-15 style rifle and a loaded semi-automatic pistol with a 50-round drum magazine, were recovered from the Maxima. It was stolen in Murfreesboro on November 9.
