Youth Services detectives this afternoon charged Joshua R. Lane, 20, with two counts of aggravated child abuse for allegedly causing critical injuries to his five-week-old son.
The unresponsive child was taken by his parents to Centennial Medical Center Sunday. He was stabilized and transferred to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Doctors determined that the infant has life-threatening severe head trauma with little to no brain function, bruising, and a healing fractured rib. During an interview with lead Youth Services Detective Steffani Dahlstrom, Lane said that he zoned out and may have shaken the child. He also acknowledged that bruising to his son’s knee was causing by him pinching the leg.
A judicial commissioner set Lane’s bond at $150,000.
