Outstanding work by Specialized Investigations Division detectives, in coordination with MNPD Aviation, led to last night’s arrest of four individuals with a large amount of drugs and two loaded guns in a Nissan Rogue after they fled from officers.
The Rogue was observed speeding, failing to maintain its lane and had a brake light out when officers attempted to stop it on Dickerson Pike. When the Rogue fled at a high rate of speed, it was monitored by Aviation until it came to a stop on Old Hickory Boulevard near Sonya Drive.
All four occupants of the Rogue fled on foot but were quickly apprehended.
During a subsequent search of the Rogue, marijuana, cocaine, mushrooms, methamphetamine, several types of pills and fentanyl were recovered. Two Glock handguns, both loaded and equipped with a switch, were also seized. One of the handguns was stolen during a 2022 robbery.
All four men face at least 11 weapon and drug related charges as well as evading arrest.
The front seat passenger, Zyshaun Simmons, 25, was free on bond for various narcotics and firearm offenses. He is currently jailed in lieu of $257,000.
