A two-month investigation by Fraud/Pawn Unit detectives with the assistance of MNPD's Specialized Investigations Division and Kroger Investigations resulted in today's arrest of the owner/operators of Grand Slam Market, 500 E Old Hickory Boulevard, brother and sister Neil and Vicki Mistry, for knowingly purchasing stolen merchandise.
Undercover detectives "sold" more than $10,000 worth of merchandise to Neil and Vicki Mistry after clearly presenting the items as stolen.
Neil Mistry, 23, wrote out "shopping lists" of items he was looking to acquire for the store. He would then purchase these items for a fraction of their value. They both admitted involvement in the scheme. Detectives seized approximately 3,000 packages of cigarettes and tobacco products.
Neil and Vicki Mistry, 25, are each charged with felony theft and money laundering. He is free on $35,000 bond. She is free on $17,500 bond.
