Youth Services detectives tonight arrested and charged Levi P. Combs, 31, with three counts of attempted kidnapping and three counts of assault by intimidation for his threatening behavior directed at three juvenile girls, one age 15, two age 13, near their school bus stop outside a Bell Road apartment complex in Hermitage at 6:20 a.m. Thursday.
One of the girls reported that as she walked to the bus stop, Combs began following her and walked faster as she increased her speed. The girl said Combs told her to stop, causing her to begin running as he gave chase. The teen contacted her mother and told her she was being followed. Once the teen was joined by another female student, they said Combs continued to follow them using a breezeway to conceal himself. When the third teen arrived at the bus stop, she described seeing one of the other girls crying and Combs staring at them and trying to walk closer.
When the first teen’s mother arrived, she asked Combs to go away and leave them alone. The mother said Combs continued to stare at the girls. When she asked him what he wanted, she said Combs replied that he wanted to talk to them in his car, a BMW sedan parked nearby.
Youth Services detectives identified Combs based on photos taken by the mother. He lived about a mile away from the bus stop.
Combs came to police headquarters Friday evening after being contacted by detectives and was taken into custody. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $51,000.
