Homicide Unit detectives are working to identify the suspect believed to be responsible for the physical assault Monday night that killed James Sutton, 59, on South 5th and Russell Streets. The man (seen in attached surveillance photos) is shown to have engaged in a physical altercation in which Sutton was shoved to the ground, causing severe injuries to his head and spinal cord.
The investigation has confirmed that Sutton was not struck by a vehicle during the incident.
Anyone with information on the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for a $5,000 cash reward in homicide cases.
