The MNPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into today’s discovery of a body in the Cumberland River in West Nashville. The victim was wrapped in trash bags and appeared to have been in the water for a significant period of time. The gender and race of the victim, in addition to the cause of death, have not been determined at present. An autopsy will be conducted this week.
A tugboat operator spotted the body in the river at 2 p.m. and notified authorities.
