The man killed in a two-vehicle hit and run collision Wednesday just before 7 p.m. at Gallatin Pike and Walton Lane is identified as Darrell Miller, 61, of Madison.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze was traveling south on Gallatin Pike when a northbound Buick LaCrosse, driven by Miller, made a left turn in front of the Cruze. The driver of the Cruze fled on foot. Miller was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be failure to obey the red light on behalf of the driver of the Cruze. Further investigation is needed to determine whether Miller also ran the red light. There was no evidence of alcohol/drug involvement at the scene.
The driver who fled the scene is described as a younger Hispanic male who had a possible “bowl cut” hairstyle and wore a red hoodie/black pants. He appears to be 5’8”-5’10” tall. Anyone with information about his identity/whereabouts is asked to call fatal crash investigations at 615-862-7738.
