An investigation spanning more than four years into the brutal rape and beating death of Joy Ransom, 52, inside her Jefferson Street apartment has resulted in the indictment of her suspected killer.
Anthony Lewis, 42, who is facing first-degree murder and aggravated rape counts, is being held in the Metro Jail without bond following his arrest today by Officer Billy Price during a vehicle stop near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Cannon Street. Lewis was the unexpected passenger in a pickup truck.
Ransom was found dead in her apartment by relatives on May 10, 2015. DNA technology assisted Cold Case Detective Steve Jolley in identifying Lewis as the suspect.
Due to the nature of this crime, detectives are working to learn more about Lewis, including whether he may have victimized other Nashville women. Anyone with information about him is asked to contact Detective Jolley at 615-862-7843.
