Demarco Locust is jailed without bond this morning after being arrested during the night for the October 31st murder of Rezai Dashti outside the Mapco store at 365 Harding Place.
Specialized Investigations Division detectives had been looking for Locust, 32, over the past few weeks. He was taken into custody Thursday night after a brief pursuit that ended on Hillsboro Pike at I-440. He was brought to police headquarters where he declined to be interviewed.
The investigation in this case, led by Homicide Unit Detective Chris Cote, indicates that Dashti, 26, and Locust, 32, were involved in a dispute over a drug issue, which led to Dashti being fatally shot.
Locust is charged with criminal homicide, felony evading related to Thursday night’s pursuit, and aggravated assault for shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s car in April.
