Vehicle Crimes detectives last night arrested a 21-year-old in a stolen Dodge Charger, with guns and drugs inside, after he fled from a traffic stop in East Nashville. The Charger, which was stolen from Clarksville, was tracked by its Sirius XM radio account to Fairfield Avenue.
Detectives witnessed the driver conduct a drug transaction and a stop was attempted on Baptist World Center Drive, but the Charger fled. Spike strips were deployed, and the Charger was disabled on Cowan Street.
The driver of the Charger, Antoine Maupin, of Bell Road, got out and ran. He was quickly taken into custody.
A pistol with a Glock switch was located in his flight path. Maupin also had cocaine in his pocket.
Another handgun, multiple baggies of marijuana, methamphetamine, and pills were recovered from inside the Charger.
Maupin was charged with four counts of drug possession, felony weapon possession, two counts of evading arrest, and motor vehicle theft. He is jailed on $160,000 bond.
