Special Victims Division detectives overnight charged Robert V. Collins, 34, with aggravated rape, attempted criminal homicide, and aggravated assault for an attack on a woman he had been briefly dating.
The 35-year-old victim reported that she had been asleep when she awoke to Collins’ hands around her neck. She lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness, he sexually assaulted her.
Detectives observed bruising on the victim’s throat. Collins is being held in lieu of $210,000 bond.
