Detectives this morning charged Steven V. Harvey, 20, with attempted criminal homicide for gunfire Thursday night on University Court in the Napier-Sudekum community that critically wounded a 13-year-old innocent bystander.
Officers responded to the area just after 7 p.m. after it was reported a teenage girl had suffered a gunshot wound to her lower back. Swift investigation led responding Hermitage Precinct officers to an apartment on Charles E. Davis Boulevard where Harvey was located and detained.
The investigation shows that Harvey and another man were involved in a fight, during which other persons joined. Harvey pulled a gun and fired shots at the crowd, wounding the 13-year-old girl.
During an interview at police headquarters with Specialized Investigations Division detectives, Harvey admitted to firing the shots. He is also charged with unlawful gun possession during the commission of a dangerous felony. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $125,000.
