An as yet unidentified man died this morning after being struck by two vehicles while walking in a travel lane of Lebanon Pike at Wellington Square.
A Nashville Fire Department ambulance crew spotted the man walking in the roadway at 5:47 a.m. They attempted to persuade him to get out of the road. He cursed at them and refused. A minute later, as police were headed to the scene, the man was hit by a Honda Odyssey van. A second vehicle then struck the individual. The 61-year-old driver of the Honda turned around and came back to the scene. The driver of the second vehicle did not. No charges are anticipated against the driver of the Honda.
That section of Lebanon Pike has a sidewalk as well as a five-foot bike lane.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting the police department in identifying the deceased.
