A McGavock High School senior was arrested Tuesday and charged in Juvenile Court with carrying a weapon on school property, theft of a firearm, and marijuana possession with intent to sell.
A school administrator stopped the 17-year-old for possessing a vape pen. School officials went to search his car and saw marijuana and a handgun inside. A School Resource officer took possession of the firearm and rendered it safe. The gun had been reported stolen on July 26 from an SUV parked in a lot on Albion Street.
In addition to the stolen firearm, ammunition, an air soft pistol, 79 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale were recovered from the student’s car.
