A cyber tip from an Internet cloud storage provider led to today’s arrest of Nashvillian Daniel R. Allen, 25, for sending child sexual abuse material to another Snapchat user.
Based on information contained in the tip, a search warrant for the contents of the Snapchat account was issued. Detectives from the MNPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit located two videos of minors engaged in sex acts. Allen admitted to owning the account and to sending the videos. An iPhone was also seized from his possession and was found to contain more graphic images of children engaged in sexual activity.
At present, Allen is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
The investigation is continuing with additional charges expected.
