A warning to Nashvillians about an ongoing robocall scam which begins with a recorded message from a man who identifies himself as an employee/sergeant of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Persons are falsely told that they need to call a phone number or visit a bogus website to resolve an unspecified “issue”.
Victims have been told to pay with cryptocurrency gift cards or mobile apps. Similar robocall scams have occurred across the country. An important reminder: No member of law enforcement will ever solicit money. The public is urged to be cautious when giving personal information to someone who is not a confirmed and trusted source.
Anyone with information regarding this scam is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
