Outstanding work by Hermitage Precinct detectives led to Wednesday’s arrest of serial commercial burglary suspect Santos Velasquez, 18, of Antioch. Velasquez had several outstanding felony warrants when detectives, in coordination with Nolensville Police and MNPD Aviation, saw him drive off in a stolen Dodge Charger.
Velasquez abandoned the Charger on Piccadilly Row where he fled on foot. He was taken into custody after resisting arrest in a garage on Tavistock Place with assistance from a Canine Unit.
Velasquez is alleged to have committed a string of commercial burglaries in the Elm Hill Pike area over the last few months. He is currently charged in the following burglaries.
- Two separate incidents in September at Jeffco Flooring;
- The October 19 burglary of equipment worth more than $31,000 at M&A Supply;
- The November 16 burglary of Care Supply.
In addition to the four counts of burglary, Velasquez is also charged with two counts of vehicle theft, two counts of evading arrest and one count of resisting arrest. More charges are anticipated.
Velasquez’s co-defendant in the majority of these incidents, Andre Mendoza, 18, was arrested in October and has pled guilty to seven burglary charges.
