The young man killed in Sunday's 12:15 a.m. single-vehicle crash in the 2700 block of Murfreesboro Pike is tentatively identified as an 18-year-old Nashvillian. The Medical Examiner's Office is working to positively identify him.
The preliminary investigation shows that the teen was driving his Infiniti G35 west on Murfreesboro Pike at a high rate of speed when, according to witnesses, he lost control of the car and swerved across all lanes of traffic before traveling off the roadway and striking a utility pole. The car burst into flames. He died at the scene.
