A student tip led to today’s arrest of Evan Walker, 18, for carrying a loaded .25 semi-automatic pistol on the grounds at East Nashville High School, 110 Gallatin Avenue.
Officers were notified just before 2 p.m. that several suspicious persons were seen behind the school, one of them armed, inside a dark colored Nissan Pathfinder with tinted windows. Officers stopped an SUV matching that description and asked the driver to lower all the windows. Walker, a senior at East High School, was in the front passenger seat. He complied with a request to step outside the Pathfinder and consented to a search. Officers recovered the handgun from Walker’s waistband. He said it belonged to a family member.
Walker is charged with carrying a gun on school property.
